YOU GOT MAIL: About The PROJECT

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

1. MAKE SOMETHING, WRITE A SWEET Note. 2. FIND AN ADDRESS BELOW, GET A STAMP, SEND IT IN THE MAIL. 3. CHANGE SOMEONE’S DAY.

It all started when…

We all had to stay put. Our connections to each other and the world changed. We have more time on our hands. A friend asked if we’d send some letters to her nursing home facility, her patients were missing their visitors. We said of course, and the idea grew.

Kids (don’t we ALL?) need stimulating projects. Creativity thrives when its quiet, connections are made when we slow down. There are so many people who are cut off from the world. Nursing homes and correctional facilities, sick neighbors in homes and in hospitals. Schools and art programs are closed, our young minds need projects. It all fits together.

LESS SCREEN TIME, MORE IMPACTFUL CONNECTIONS.

PERSONAL SUBMISSIONS:

My grandmother is 94, she is now very isolated due to the virus outbreak. I usually visit every other week when I am not working at the hospital, but because I have and will continue to come into contact with covid patients I can no longer see her in person. She receives so few visitors and mail currently. This worsened isolation will be horrible for her. She is older but still relatively active, living at home, and mostly independent, but now shut off from everything and lonely. Thank you for brightening her day.

MAIL TO:

nashville, TN 37217.

He is my next door neighbor. I feel he and his wife do not get a lot of visitors, they will feel very happy to have someone write to them and know they are being thought of.

Cultivate Community
Help us share encouragement during this time of isolation by sending postcards for elderly neighbors to our office at THE NASHVILLE FOOD PROJECT: 5904 California Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209. We'll get them out to meal guests as we share meals with our senior-serving partners.
